Being understood is a non-negotiable

Being understood is a non-negotiable

A week ago with a customer of ours during one of our courses:

Us: What’s your goal?

Them: To make them understand that this new programme is needed.

Us: Just understand?

Them: Yes.

Us: That’s not enough. Being understood is a crucial part of effective communication, but that’s not your goal. Again, if anything were possible, what would you want the board to do?

Them: Well, if anything were possible, of course, we’d ask them to give us the green light to implement the programme.

Understand vs approve. That changes everything, doesn’t it?
