Is this the End of SlideShare?

There is almost no way you are a speaker and you at least haven’t heard about SlideShare. It is that platform where you can upload your slideshow and share it with the world.

However, SlideShare is way more if you think about it

• You can find some interesting materials on various topics and learn from them.

• It is a place where as a presentation person you may be able to find some inspiration for your slide designs.

• Because you can upload your presentations, you can send that link over e-mail or use it as an object you want to embed on your personal or company’s website.

And these are just some of the things. Marketing people (and not only), for example, use SlideShare to distribute presentation materials to get to new audiences.

In the last few months, however, SlideShare looks like dying. The platform itself was purchased a few years ago by LinkedIn and then LinkedIn got acquired by Microsoft and one would expect that this will help the platform grow and become even more popular and fully featured. Microsoft even killed docs.com (their alternative to SlideShare) once they purchased LinkedIn. Yet, that does not seem to change anything. The platform has almost 0 new quality content or at least way, way less than before. What’s more, it’s now used as a place where you will find links to other LinkedIn services (or should I say Microsoft such)?

Overall, it’s a strange thing. It’s clear that the world needs a platform like this but will that be SlideShare. Is Microsoft planning something behind the scenes and can they return people back? What’s your opinion and why do you think all of this happened in the first place?
