We were recently asked if there is an easy way to get a color palette based on an image. As you know we are quite huge fans of Adobe Color(we wrote about it here), but even Adobe are not allowing you to easily accomplish that. Yes, they give you a humongous amount of predefined color palettes, but one that’s based on your image(s) – noup. That does not mean that there is no way to get what you want.

Pictaculous – a free web service that does just one thing, but does it perfectly is exactly what you are searching for. You don’t need anything, but to go on the website and upload the photo you want to see a palette being generated from. Here is what the results look like if you input our logo, for example.
