At one point during the training, one of the executives walked into the room. Boris, who worked with the group, decided to take the opportunity and asked him directly:
“What are you looking for in a presentation?”
Not even knowing, the group had already gave their thoughts on what an exec expects from a presentation and all of their ideas were on the whiteboard already. Thankfully, there was a 1:1 match.
But there was one thing he said that really hit differently:
“When you come to present to us, we approach that meeting knowing you’re coming prepared.”
He went on to explain what happens if they see you’re not prepared… but we think you can guess how that story ends.
So, if you’re ever asked to present to an executive—or a group of them—just remember this: They walk into the room already expecting that you’ve worked hard on it.Two weeks ago, we wrote about a customer we delivered training for. We worked with their managers, who often present to the C-suite.
