Henrik Bergqvist is one of the Co-Founders and CEO of Pickit, while Brad Hawkes is the VP of Marketing. They were a sponsor and speakers in our Tools track at the Present to Succeed Conference 2021.
Pickit is a highly effective tool that many people and businesses use daily all over the world. It considerably speeds up the process and puts everything you need for it at your fingertips. Pickit’s highly convenient digital asset management solution also includes services for refining any complex storage systems by consolidating everything in one location.
In their session, Henrik offered us his top five fast tips for those who regularly present at work for various reasons but are not seasoned presentation designers. Following that, Brad offered a tour of Pickit, focusing on how it may assist you with design, structure, and formatting.
Henrik's top presentation rules for non-designers
If you are not a presentation designer, but you present frequently, Henrik offered five simple rules that will ensure your presentations are more professional:
1. One message per slide
Your audience will begin reading whatever you display on your slide right away, which diverts their focus away from you. Even worse, if you have all of those messages and decide to read them yourself. That would be a disaster.
2. Five elements per slide
Keep it tight. To allow your audience’s brains to relax and not feel crowded by too many items, limit each slide to five or six items from the start. Then all your audience has to do is listen.
3. Maximum two fonts per presentation
Many times we add content and forget about checking the font. It looks unprofessional when you show inconsistency like that, so keep it down to two fonts for your convenience as well.
4. Maximum seven words or less per line
A simple rule is to make sure you are not adding too much text to your slide.
5. Maximum five bullet points per slide
More than five bullets on a slide can kill your impact. Do you need more bullet points? Add a slide!

Henrik also reminded us that nowadays we communicate more with images, aka visually, rather than with words.
Pickit walkthrough
If most of your preparation time is spent trying to find the right images, product shots, brand images, company logos, hunting around SharePoint or Dropbox for the corporate template, and that is where Pickit cuts that time in half.
Pickit concentrates on three key elements: design, structure, and format. What it does is assist you to save time on those, so you can spend it on things like body language, public speaking practice, walking your dog, or drinking a cup of coffee.
So, where do you get your images? Keeping track of licenses, log-ins, and other such details can be difficult. Many individuals use search engines for photos, but unfortunately, 85 percent of those images are unlicensed and illegal to use in a presentation.
As a solution, Pickit has gathered 1 million photos from 15 different image sources and placed them all in one place inside PowerPoint. You don’t have to switch to anything else this way. If you become easily sidetracked, remaining inside PowerPoint is critical, and Pickit solves that as well.

Brad showed how easy Pickit makes it for you to find and add the right images from multiple sources, all without leaving PowerPoint.
And if you don’t know what image to use and need some inspiration? Pickit provides image collections that serve as visual playlists, selected by professional curators to ensure that there is always relevant and current material.
Your digital assets are easily accessible within PowerPoint – brand images, product shots, maybe some employee portraits, logos, and even fonts.
Perhaps a marketing manager has handed you a lengthy pdf including the brand book, style guide, and other materials? You can have everything in PowerPoint at your fingertips with Pickit.

Here you can see how you can have all the brand images and company logos, even fonts, just a few clicks away.
Pickit Enterprise
Pickit Enterprise is relatively new for Pickit, but it is gaining momentum and they constantly release new services. Pickit Enterprise is the more advanced service, and it offers all kinds of different integrations. For example, if you have Getty Images or Adobe Stock accounts, you can put them in. You may also link your Dropbox account and access the stuff stored there
Let's summarize
Henrik presented us with some easy fixes for the most common problems with presentations. Keep your message to one per slide, with up to five components and two typefaces maximum per deck. Then, if you need more than seven words per line or five bullet points – add extra slides!
Brad started by asking, “What if you could get back 5, 10, or even 15 hours each month that you spend developing presentations?” That is what Pickit can do for you. It allows you to devote more time to improving your speaking skills. And now you know how.
