Train The Trainer at SoftUni (Mistake 8 of 50): Equipment Problems
In number 7 of the series of mistakes from the train the trainer course, we discussed the busy demo problem. Let’s now turn our attention to something not that expected or at least not for me.
Mistake: During the setup of the projector, pointer, etc. a problem arises and then, there’s panic.
Why is this a problem: Getting even more nervous(because you already are a bit – it’s the start of your presentation) won’t help you deliver your talk better. What’s more, you don’t want to seem like a person who has no idea how to deal with problems of this kind – you are the speaker, you are out there setting up your things. You should at least have some thoughts on why something does not work the way you expect it to.
Solution: First try to think of ways how you can fix the problem(s) yourself. If you are unsuccessful after trying or you don’t have enough time to deal with it for some reason(the session starts after 2 minutes), ask the organizer(the host) or someone from the audience for help. Don’t panic immediately. If something does not work, you should be ready to readapt, move on and deliver. That, of course, will only be possible if you are incredibly well prepared.
Here, now you are 8 steps closer to becoming a great trainer. ?
