Having notes and looking at them during your presentation is a no go. What else? Here’s another mistake I see everywhere I go…

Mistake: Finishing either too early or quite too late.

Why is this a problem: Because in both cases you are not respecting your audience’s time. If you finish early, you could have brought them even more value. If you get over your time, they may have some other appointments and work to do and now they either can’t because they sit in the middle of the room or they can, but they will miss part of your talk…

Solution: The same as in Mistake 16 – rehearse with a watch next to you. Rehearse at home until you are able to deliver your presentation for the time you are going to be given – (minus) a few minutes for possible tech issues, questions, people who are late, etc.
