Getting a haircut?

Getting a haircut?

4 hours ago. Customer meeting. Final words from our client:

Can you please stay for 1 more minute in the call? Want to ask you something...
----- this person's manager leaves the call
Hey, if I may, what's this camera that you are using?

The question we've being asked so many times in the last few years...

Here's what we're using:

  1. Sony Alpha 6300 with 24mm lens
  2. Fake battery connected to the AC power for constant charge
  3. Elgato HD60S to connect the camera to the PC
  4. Elgato tripod that holds the camera attached to the desk
  5. Elgato Key Lights - two of them - one pointing towards my face. Another towards the ceiling.

You now have our cam setup. But do you need it? No. Too expensive. Do you need to invest in yourself, though, to move away from the quality the webcam of your laptop delivers - probably. Especially if you want to differentiate from many of the people in the world of business today.

The way you present yourself matters. And you know it. That's why you're buying things like clothes, perfumes, haircuts...

Now think of how you present yourself online and what creates the first impression there? I would argue the way you look on camera is one of the components, isn't it?

So, the question now is - if you are investing your own money to create a better image for yourself when people meet you in-person, then why not do it for the moments when people meet you online?
