Luxury, hospitality and selling to the next generation

Sommet Education is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the world when it comes to luxury management and hospitality. They first met us at our own Present to Succeed Conference - the largest presentation skills event in the world. Few months later they reached out to us with an ask to help them craft a very special presentation. One that they can deliver in front of high school students and introduce them to what might end up being the next step in their education. What made this request special, however, was the target audience - students. How do you craft a story and how do you support it with design that resonates with this young generation?

Process

Our client wanted the presentation to be no longer than 30 minutes long and to represent just 3 of the universities they own - Glion Institute of Higher Education, Les Roches and École Ducasse. What's more, we had to craft the story of the talk to not sound like a pushy sales presentation but as something that will inspire them to dream of being part of the world of luxury management and hospitality. That's why we worked on the story first and once done, we then moved the project to the next phase - design and animation.

Step 1

Storytelling

When our team started working on the story of the talk, we had to do a lot of research about the audience. Sure, these are people who are 18 years old or soon to be that age but they were also coming from some of the most prestigious schools in the world. So, what do they like? What do they dislike? What do they care about? Who are the individuals or brands they respect and admire? We asked a ton of questions and wrote down detailed notes that later on used when the true writing process began.

Step 2

Design selection

Our target group lives in the digital age. They don't know the world before social media. They haven't seen or engaged with products which don't offer and incorporate beautiful design and user experience at every level. So how do you you craft a modern yet classy design? One that resonates with this new and upcoming generation and one that maintains the traditions of the world of luxury? This was the task for our design team who came up with two very brave design directions that we presented to Sommet.

Step 3

Animation

Once there was a decision on which design direction we would take, we knew that animations will play a huge part in making this slideshow look impressive. We've built everything inside of PowerPoint this time and that took us quite some time as we wanted to achieve the perfect balance between classy and modern look. The main goal was not to overdo it but still give the audience the idea that we really are playing at the highest level of everything we do - from the schools and programs we offer to the way we present ourselves.

Step 4

Final touches

Before we presented the project to our clients, we did numerous checks to make sure that everything works and looks as we want it to. We also did test the slideshow on both Windows and Mac devices to ensure that the everything is displayed and works as expected.

The results

A presentation that not only resonates with the high school students but also manages to keep the classy element that the Sommet Education institution represents and is known for.
